Game Day Social Coverage

As Social Media Manager for Cal Poly Women's Basketball, I own the account from tip-off to final buzzer. Every game I coordinate with graphics, video, and photography interns to produce 4–6 posts, live updates, highlight reels, player spotlights, and postgame recaps, all in real time, all under deadline.

  • Pregame lineup posts · Live story updates · In-game highlight clips · Halftime stats graphics · Final score recap · Player spotlights

  • Pregame Plan: Set the posting schedule: determine 4–6 target posts, assign roles to graphics and video interns, prep caption drafts and hashtags before tip-off.

Live Execution: Rapid editing in real time — crop photos, cut 15–60 second clips, write captions, and post. Prioritize vertical for Reels/TikTok, square for feed and X.

Postgame Recap: Final score graphic, top performer spotlight, highlight reel. Review engagement data to sharpen strategy for the next game.

Leading a social media strategy

As PR Director, I managed the chapter's full social presence and led a TikTok recruitment campaign that reached 40,000+ views — more than 6x the chapter's typical performance. I planned the concepts, coordinated filming with the entire chapter, and edited the final videos to align with current trends and the chapter's brand.

As PR Director for Cal Poly's Kappa Kappa Gamma chapter, I managed the full social media presence — not just campaigns, but the day-to-day consistency that keeps a community engaged. I posted 2–3 times per week, maintained daily Stories, and created member spotlights and event coverage that gave our audience a personal look into chapter life. One of my favorite projects was #BlueBroughtMeYou — a content series celebrating the stories that brought members to KKG, designed to connect with both current sisters and potential new members. I also led TikTok strategy during recruitment week, coordinating filming with the entire chapter and editing videos to match current trends and the chapter's brand.

More Work

Two more roles where I produced content under real newsroom conditions — live sports coverage and radio show promotion.

  • Real-time Instagram Story coverage of Cal Poly sports — vertical clips, score updates, press conferences

  • Instagram graphics promoting published sports articles — on-brand fonts, colors, and style

  • Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop graphics — stats, key moments, game highlights made visual

  • Instagram and Facebook posts, captions, stories, and content calendars for radio show promotion
